On August 30, 2021, at the Centre for Innovation and Advanced Technologies of the Lublin Universi-ty of Technology, the Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, signed a commission for the Lublin University of Technology to implement the task “Establishment and coordination of the activities of the Polish Metrological Union (PMU)”. The University will receive PLN 1,357,500 for implementation of this task. “These are ‘only administrative costs’. We are working on a special programme with far more money involved, a programme that will have a systemic approach to the creation of the Polish Metrological Union and this basis for the development of Polish metrology, thus leading to the development of science in different fields and in different disciplines,” the Min-ister of Education and Science said.
The primary objective of the establishment of the Polish Metrological Union (PMU) is net-working and positioning activities in Polish metrology, setting new directions for research and development, promoting innovation and supporting staff development, organizing fo-rums, conferences and congresses.
The establishment of the PUM will allow for the integration, initiation and implementation of joint activities of many research centres and institutions in metrology and measurement techniques. The PMU’s close cooperation with the Central Office of Measures will also help implement research and development works.
“The synergy of activities of metrological environments operating in these institutions will allow for the optimal use of their knowledge, experience and equipment resources. It will enable the implementation of tasks relating to various areas of social and economic life, in which measurement and its certainty play a key role,” said Professor Jacek Semaniak, President of the Central Office of Measures.
“An important element of the Union is the Central Office of Measures, its metrological staff and laboratories located in Warsaw, as well as at the Świętokrzyski Laboratory Campus of the Central Office of Measures that is being established in Kielce. The Campus will be opened toward the end of 2023,” said Professor Jacek Semaniak, President of the Central Office of Measures.
The conference programme included a ceremonial signing of the Agreement on scientific-research cooperation between the Lublin University of Technology and the Central Office of Measures in supporting innovation and technological progress in Poland.
The agreement signed today between the Lublin University of Technology and the Central Office of Measures builds a strategic partnership between the University with a long-standing academic tradition as well as domestic and international recognition as an im-portant centre of innovation and invention, and the Office which has been securing national measurement standards of measurement for over 100 years, said Professor Jacek Semaniak, President of the Central Office of Measures.
